  • 4-H Sports Meeting (September 15)
  • There will be a 4-H Competitive Sports Meeting on September 15th at 6:00pm in the Woodruff Electric Annex in Forrest City.  Rex Roberg, a Wildlife Management Specialist with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, will discuss various competitive events such as rifle, shotgun, and archery.  For more information, call (870) 261-1730.

  • AG&F - Fish Eradication (September 18)
  • The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service will hold a town meeting and public hearing regarding eradication of the northern snakehead fish.  The meeting will be on September 18th beginning at 7:00pm at the Brinkley Convention Center.

  • ALFDC - Workshop (September 23)
  • 'Taking the Next Step: On the Road to College", a 3-day workshop in remembrance of Stephanie Bryant, will be conducted at Arkansas Land & Farm Development in Forrest City September 23rd through the 26th from 6:30pm-8:30pm each evening.  This is a free workshop open to all high school students and parents.

  • Adult Basic Education (TFN)
  • Adult Basic Education classes are held at the G.E.D. Building next to Stewart Elementary School in Forrest City.  No fees are required for these classes.  For more information, contact Vivian Ryan at 261-1807.

  • American Red Cross - Blood Drive (September 13)
  • The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on September 13th from 10am to 4pm at Wal-Mart in Forrest City.

  • Blues Festival (October 11)
  • The Annual Blues Festival in Helena-West Helena is set for October 9th-11th.

  • Boys & Girls Club (TFN)
  • The Boys & Girls Club of St. Francis County is taking applications for its after school program.  The program is held from 3:30-7:00pm.  Applications are available at area schools, at the club, and at Affordable Insurance.  For more information, call the club at 633-1115 (2-7pm).

  • Brinkley Fall Fest (September 27)
  • The Brinkley Fall Fest is set for September 27th.  Anyone wanting to participate as crafters, artists, musicians or dancers should contact the Brinkley Chamber of Commerce at 734-2262.

  • Caldwell Cotton Pickin' Festival (September 27)

  • Childbirth Classes - FC Medical Center (TFN)
  • Free childbirth classes are being offered at Forrest City Medical Center.  These classes are held the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 6-8pm at the Inservice Education Room on the 1st floor.  For more information, call (870) 261-0000.

  • Clarendon Schools - Grandparents Day (September 5)

  • Commodity Distribution - SFC (September 11)
  • A commodity distribution for St. Francis County is set for September 11th at 9:00am at the following locations:  National Guard Armory in Forrest City, Hughes City Hall, and Wheatley City Hall.  For more information, call (870) 932-3663.

  • Commodity Distribution - Lee County (September 18)
  • Commodities for Lee County residents will be distributed on September 18th from 8:30am until 4:30pm or until they run out.  The distribution pint will be Mid-Delta Community Center in Marianna.

  • Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute - BBQ (October 3)
  • Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute will have their 21st Annual BBQ on October 3rd.  Serving in the drive-thru will begin at 4:00pm and go through 7:00pm.  Serving in the Student Center will be from 5:00-8:30pm.  For information, call 633-5411 or 1-800-842-2317.

  • Driving Tests - Lee County
  • Those wanting to obtain an Arkansas drivers license can take a written exam at 1:00pm and the road test at 9:00am each Thursday at the Lee County Courthouse.

  • E.A.C.C. - Piano (September 11)

  • FC Schools - Lunch Buddies (TFN)
  • The Forrest City School District is looking for volunteers for its Lunch Buddy Program.  Lunch Buddies visit a district school once a week, eat lunch with a student, and act as a mentor.  For more information, contact Allison Fogg at 317-5883.

  • FC Schools - Rolling Readings (September 30)
  • The Forrest City School District is currently taking applications for volunteer readers for the Rolling Readers Program.  Volunteers will read once a week to students in pre-K through the 4th grade.  To volunteer, call 633-0556 or 630-6409.

  • Parkin Archeological State Park - Artifact ID Day (September 6)
  • Parkin Archeological State Park will host an Artifact Identification Day on September 6th from 1-3pm.  Archeologists will be on hand to answer questions and identify artifacts for the public.  This is free and open to everyone.  For more information, call (870) 755-2500.

  • Parkin Archeological State Park - Casqui School Days (September 19)
  • Parkin Archeological State Park will host Casqui School Days September 17-19 from 9:30am until 1:30pm each day.  This events allows teachers and students to rediscover aspects of Native American life.  School groups are encouraged to call the park to reserve a spot at (870) 755-2500.

  • Real estate records for St. Francis County are now available online and free of charge.  County Assessor Craig Jones said web surfers may go to www.ARCountyData.com, then click on "St. Francis" under the list of counties.  Another screen will appear--click on "Subscriber Login," then "Free Public Search."

  • Ridgewood Baptist Church - Youth Breakfast (September 27)
  • The youth of Ridgewood Baptist Church will have a pancake breakfast on September 27th from 6-9am.  Tickets are $6.

  • SFC Adoption Coalition
  • The St. Francis County Adoption Coalition is seeking members to promote and educate the community regarding adoption.  The coalition meets on the second Friday of each month from 12-1pm at EACC's Learning Resource Center.  For more information, call 270-1250.

  • SFC Fair (September 8)
  • The St. Francis County Fair will be held September 8-13 at the fairgrounds south of Forrest City.  Commercial booth space may be reserved by calling (870) 633-5270 or (870) 633-6875.

  • SFC Fair - Talent Contest (September 8)
  • The St. Francis County Talent Contest will begin at 7:00pm on September 11th at the fairgrounds south of Forrest City.  There are two divisions:  junior (ages 5-9) and senior (ages 10 to 20).  The deadline to enter is September 8th.  Contact Lisa Miller at 261-4208.

  • Tri-County Fair - Motorcycle Dice Run (September 6)
  • The Tri-County Fair 6th Annual Motorcycle Dice Run will be September 6th.  The first bike out from the fairgrounds will be at 10am; the last at 2pm.  There will be bike games, door prizes, and free entertainment.  For more information, call (870) 995-2816 or (870) 995-1286.

  • Village Creek State Park - Clean-Up Day (September 6)
  • Village Creek State Park will have their annual clean-up day on September 6th.  Registration starts are 8:30am at the Visitor's Center.  A lunch will be provided for all participants.  Trash bags and gloves will also be supplied.  For more information, call the park at (870) 238-9406.

  • Woodruff Seniors - Dance
  • The Woodruff County Senior Citizens Program sponsors a dance with live music every Saturday from 6-9pm at the Senior Citizens Center in Patterson.  The cost is $4 per person.

  • Wynne Animal Shelter - Fundraiser (September 20)
  • The Wynne Animal Shelter will have a fundraiser on September 20th with a benefit horse auction.  The auction will begin at 9:00am at the Double D Horse Stables, formerly known as Big Valley Horse Trailers.  For questions, call (870) 588-2127.
